RWFL conquers Capital Climb

The 'mean dream team' will be tackling the equally tough Mandela Marathon this Sunday

RUN Walk for Life Toti has been advised that, due to a lack of sponsorship, the Baron Queen and King of the Mountain is being cancelled.

The Capital Climb was supposed to be the first leg of this series.

Well done to all members who attempted and conquered the Capital Climb 15km. Those who have previously done it will know this is one of ‘those’ races not many runners and walkers attempt because it is arduous. The ‘mean dream team’ will be tackling the equally tough Mandela Marathon this Sunday, 24 August. RWFL wishes them well, may they have injury-free run. After that they gear up for the Hundred Miler on 20 September. Pledges and sponsorship raised for young Faron-Mae amounts to about R1,100. Support this team when you see them out and about while training and acknowledge their efforts in collecting money for this young Glycogen Storage Disease (GSD) type 0 (aglycogenosis) sufferer.

Sponsor the team you pledge per kilometre or donate. For details on pledging, call Debbie Ellish on 084-402-5800 or Jan Botha on 082-290-4005.

RWFL appreciates the support of individual athletes and clubs who support their walks and runs on Saturday mornings and from the gym from Mondays to Thursdays at 5am. As it is winter, athletes must wear bright coloured clothing as well as reflective wear so that they are visible to motorists.

Members are reminded of the upcoming South Coast Marathon. Pre-enter online on the Toti AC website. For more details, call Des van der Merwe on 082-806-0348 or Chris Stange on 083-301-3632.
