Batting woes continue for Amanzimtoti 4th cricket team

Amanzimtoti won the toss and elected to bat first.

ON Sunday, 9 March, Amanzimtoti Cricket Club’s 4th side travelled to Bayview on the Bluff to play against Harlequins 4.

Amanzimtoti won the toss and elected to bat first. None of the Toti batsmen except for Damian hung around to set a fighting total on the board.

Scorecard: Renier 2, TP 3, Re-Juan 6, Damian 42, Johan 6, David 0, Donald 4, Milo 3, Eben 4 and Pieter 1 not out, total 86. There is no logical explanation as to why the Toti batsmen, who all have the ability, cannot occupy the crease for longer to score more runs and maybe a change of batting order is an option.

The Quins run chase started with two early wickets claimed by the opening bowling pair and it appeared that Toti could pull it off, but it was not to be, as Quins’ batsmen at the crease smashed the ball all over the oval, reaching the target in the 12th over. Toti bowling figures: Re-Juan 3 overs 1/7, TP 3 overs 1/19, Renier 3 overs 0/16, Damian 2 overs 0/26, Johan 1 over 0/18.

Awards were handed to Damian for best batsman, Re-Juan for best bowler and Johan received the award for ‘thanks for coming’.
