Ollies B team goes on rampage against Rouge
Nautical Mile A’s Gerhard Coetzee scored a full house and also won his doubles game with teammate Denzil van der Westhuizen against Boardroom B.

SAPPHIRE Coast pool league results for Wednesday, 5 March:
Boardroom A vs Ollies A’s first round ended in a draw. Hopes were sunk when the away team scored three rounds of 3-1. The final singles score of 11-5 left no possible recovery for the home team. Rajen Naidoo, Cliffy Govender and Sergie Moodley each won three of their four games. A split with doubles games left Ollies A with a grand 12-6 win.
Nautical Mile A’s Gerhard Coetzee scored a full house and also won his doubles game with teammate Denzil van der Westhuizen against Boardroom B. The rest of the home team’s Juan van Zyl, Arthur Stead and Denzil van der Westhuizen’s combined nine points taking the singles to an unrecoverable 13 point lead. Juan and Arthur also took their doubles game, scoring a impressive 15-3 win.
Sapphire Cove A’s Dean Keppler won the first point of each round and scored a full house against Nautical Mile B’s team. Teammates, Glen Fryer, Hennie Coetzee and Mark Russel helped win the singles by taking the scores of 3-1 in each of first three rounds; the fourth round to 2-2. The away team fought back, taking two points for the doubles. Sapphire Cove final score of a splendid 11-7 win.
Although the third and fourth rounds of Warnadoone A vs Ollies D played were level, the first and second rounds had already left the home team badly wounded, scoring only one out of eight points. Castello Naidoo took his familiar full house and Mark Naidoo took three of his four. There was no mercy as doubles games were secured, the away team scored a fine 13-5 win.
Silver Dollar B wore their Warnadoone C rivals down as they took the first three games of the first round, and damaged the away team more severely with a second round by taking all four points.
Three out of four games were won by Craig Waller and Keeren Naidoo, the latter being thwarted from scoring a full house by Deneiro Naidoo in the fourth round. A split in the doubles brought the winning score for the home team to a well deserved 11-7 win.
The Warnerdoone D away team’s Coenie Ackerman scored the first of only four sad points after the 10th game against Moulin Rouge A. The fatal mistake of Nicole Winter’s cushion shot left the black ball ‘without legs’ for the victor, allowing Vincent Post to claim the victory.
A fast-playing Pierre Boonzaaier was about to give Nicole Winter a seven piece when he over-anxiously sunk the black ball and then the white a second later, giving away the second point to the away team. Chris Kennedy took a full house, with Vincent Post and Mark Macfarlane each taking three of four games. Moulin A’s grand final score was 14-4.
Ollies B’s Dillon Chetty and Levin Poonan’s pool flair allowed them to take full houses against Moulin Rouge D’s team. By the second round, a 5-3 advantage to the home team made them more determined to cause even more damage.
They went on to take four points in round three and three points in the final round. A split score for doubles left the home team with a 13-5 win.
The scores of Moulin Rouge B vs Reef C ran an even 4-4 by the end of the second round. Dave Renwick, George Gormley, Jonathan Childsmith and newcomer, Siyabonga Zungu put the screws on the away team, each winning their game and thus leading 8-4 by the end of the third round. Siyabonga’s seven piece against his opponent, Naeem Ebrahim caused great jubilation.
This game dashed Naeem Ebrahim’s chances of scoring a full house and he had to settle with a 3-1 score. The doubles matches being drawn left the victors an 11-7 victory.
