Close and yet so far for ACC 4ths
The team that arrived was positive with high spirits and a great urge to end the season with a win.

ON Sunday, 30 March Amanzimtoti Cricket Club (ACC) 4th’s travelled to Himalayas Road to face Merebank 2 in the last game of the season.
With some late withdrawals on the morning of the match, the team manager had to arrange some late replacements.
The team that arrived was positive with high spirits and a great urge to end the season with a win.
The day started well with the toss, which was won by Merebank who elected to bat first. ACC would have elected to field first in any case should they have won the toss.
The opening spell by Janco and JJ was purely fantastic -the only time a Merebank batsman got bat on ball was when the bowlers hit the bat. Scoring runs were difficult and the openers were very unlucky not to pick up any wickets.
The pressure was not released as the first change bowlers Roald and Dena took over and continued in the same vein as the openers.
Once again the Merebank batsmen got through this spell without losing a wicket, but they had no runs on the board to write home about. TP and Renier was introduced into the attack and, due to the pressure created by the preceding bowlers, took three quick wickets and the rot continued from there with Johan and Milo introduced into the attack. Wickets kept falling and Merebank was all out for 103 runs.
Bowling figures for ACC: Janco 4 overs 0/17, JJ 4 overs 0/14, Roald 3.1 overs 1/12, Dean 3 overs 0/11, Renier 4 overs 2/7, TP 4 overs 3/11, Johan 3 overs 1/16 and Milo 3 overs 2/15.
With the belief that this could be their day, ACC started the run chase well but lightning struck for the 5th time as the ACC batting line-up fell apart and ACC was bowled out for 70 runs, leaving Merebank to win the game by 33 runs.
Scorecard for ACC: Janco 7, TP 13, Dean 0, JJ 20, Roald 2, Johan 1, Re-Juan 3, Renier 4, Quinton 0, Milo 0, Pieter 1 not out.
Thanks for the effort by every single player and the guys for helping out on the day. The team will be back next season. Three awards were handed out for performance on the day. Best batsman went to JJ, best bowler to TP and the memorable ‘thanks for coming’ went to Dean.
