Toti AC’s Dick King events hailed a huge success

TOTI Athletics Club hosted the popular Dick King 21km run and 15km walk, after the event was cancelled in 2013 due to lack of sponsorship.
This year the races started and finished at the Amanzimtoti beachfront.
It was a great opportunity to promote Amanzimtoti and its beautiful beach front to over 800 athletes, some of whom came from as far afield as Cape Town.
Toti AC can boast as one of few clubs in KZN to host two great running events, Dick King and the South Coast marathon in one year.
Encouraging news is that the Dick King entries this year were up by 40%. The runners were full of compliments on how smoothly the registration process ran. The great water tables on the route and the finish and facilities at Toti main beach were also cause for acclaim.
Chairman Des van der Merwe thanks the committee for all the hours spent on planning the event, as well as the women who helped at registration on Saturday and Sunday, those who helped at the finish with medals and handing out drinks, time keepers and the team who captured the results. The marshalls also did a great job.
It was great that the whole club got involved on the day, from members to family and friends. Thank you to all volunteers who made this a great race.
