RWFL runners cross Dick King finish line in fine style

They still have a few longs runs and races before they can start taking it easy.

THIS week’s weather has been good for all Run Walk For Life Amanzimtoti (RWFL) walkers and runners.

Two Oceans members are in their final stages of preparation for the big event but Comrades runners are now starting to clock up the kilometres.

They still have a few longs runs and races before they can start taking it easy, so hang in there as crossing the finish line will be well worth it.

On Saturday some members took part in the Dick King helper’s run, as the club was asked to assist with hosting a water table. All who helped are thanked, especially the members of ACV Auto Opperman team, Frames and Mounts Ellish team Nawrattel family and the water table manned by captain Lizette Botha – without all of you we cannot host events like this.

On Sunday the balance of the registered Run Walk For life members Runners /Walkers took part in the Dick King 21.1 run/walk and 15km walk to all of you well done you were great. Special mention must be made of Edmund Luiz, who came second in his age group after a third place last week in the 42.2km. Well done Eddie, bring home a first next year.

The Cansa relay date has been postponed. A meeting will be held on 8 April where members will be informed of the new date. There is still time to put your name down should you wish to participate in this prestigious event. For details, call Jan Botha on 082-290-4025.

The public is invited to join RWFL on any of their training runs, but are urged to wear either a reflective bib or bright coloured clothing.

Saturday is the first leg of this year’s cross country season at Westridge Tennis Stadium. For more information, call Savages AC’s Robin Honneysett on 083-553-5647. All are welcome to join this event.

On Sunday it’s the Spar Corridor half marathon at Ixopo. The start is at 7am. For more information, call Brennan De Bruyn on 082-743-3684.

Also on Sunday, RBAC hosts a 32km and 10km event, with a 6am start, from Richards Bay hall. For details, call Petro Hardwick on 071-355-7992.

The Oasis Crescent 21.1km and 10km has been cancelled.
