Amanzimtoti Netball Club indomitable during season
Amanzimtoti Netball Club showed teams of the KZN Super League Division B what they were made of, going undefeated across the entire season.
THE Amanzimtoti Netball Club senior A-team has done the unthinkable, going undefeated across an entire season against tough competition in the KZN Super League B Division after winning both matches on October 10.

Proud chairperson of the club, Ruan Engelbrecht, said the team’s strategic structure was effective, allowing the athletes to maintain dominance in both the defensive and attacking circles.
“In our first game against Midlands Netball Academy, we established an early lead by successfully imposing our structure. They struggled to counter our attacking play, and our defensive unit adapted effectively to their pace, resulting in a 46-26 victory. The second match against KNC presented a significant shift. Their physically imposing defence required our shooters to work considerably harder to convert each goal,” said Engelbrecht.
After building a strong initial lead, the extreme heat challenged the players’ endurance and KZN’s fast-paced players narrowed the gap.

“Our cohesion faltered, leading to unforced errors. Fortunately, the team maintained their composure and persevered to secure a 31-30 win,” he added.
Unfortunately, despite not recording a single loss, the team ended second, one point behind UKZN Netball, due to falling short on goal difference. As such, the senior side will face off against A Division’s Pinetown Eagles for a spot in the premier division of the KZN Super League on October 17.
“This fixture is highly significant for the team as we aim to conclude the season on a strong note,” said Engelbrecht.
