Winkle team takes Bools Day honours

Mixed nominated pairs 2-4-2 saw Sonny Brunsdon and Gladys Yelland beat Freddy Hetterscheidt and Elaine Critchlow.

WINKLESPRUIT Bowling Club’s partcipation in the 75th Bools day on Saturday, 16 August saw the executive team of Eddie Bingham, Mac and Yvonne Appleby and Charlotte Kohl retain the trophy.

Overall winners of the non-Moths teams were Andre Gelderblom, Norme Raath, Elaine Critchlow and Jonty Denyssen.

Brian Farmer won the spider in what was a successful day for the club.

In club competitions, the women’s nominated pairs saw Estelle van der Merwe and Gladys Yelland beat Elaine Crirchlow and Maureen Griffin.

In the mixed nominated pairs 2-4-2, Sonny Brunsdon and Gladys Yelland beat Freddy Hetterscheidt and Elaine Critchlow.

In the women’s nominated trips Estelle van der Merwe, Gladys Yelland and Di Kruger beat Jeanette Els, Elmarie Young and Bessie Vergottini.

The men’s drawns pairs saw Bill Rawlinson and Brian Bodley beat Sonny Brunsdon and Freddy Hetterscheidt.

On Wednesday, 13 August the monthly twinkle trips was held. Second session went to Heather Brown, Nicky Stirzaki and Jackie Holdrick, overall winners were Lulu Bingham, Freddy Hetterscheidt and Maggie Cormick. The 100 board was won by Linda McGregor.

On Thursday, 14 August the men’s Kwikspar trips was played. Second session winners were Ian, Duncan, and Peter. Overall winners were Doug, Brian and Denny. The 100 board was won by Brian Bodley.

The monthly mixed trips will be held on Sunday, 24 August at 9am. Advise Di if you are unable to play.

Time is running short to complete the competitions, so make the effort to finalise the games.

The AGM will be held on 30 August at 9am, the nomination form is on the notice board. Note if your club fees have not been paid, you will not be able to vote.
