RWFL makes strides in parkrun times

On Sunday, 10 August most members went to Chatsworth to support the Women in Action 10km and 5km.

ON Saturday, 16 August Run Walk for Life (RWFL) Toti’s members supported the local, fast-growing Park Run.

A few came out tops in their age groups.

Well done to everyone. A few members improved their times on this extremely difficult course. The park run is free and only requires you to register on www.parkrun.co.za and print the bar-code on the email you receive.

On Sunday, 10 August most members went to Chatsworth to support the Women in Action 10km and 5km. From the oldest to Anja Nawrattel, RWFL’s youngest member, all did well.

As the event was in support of the women, the men chose to also participate to show their support. Warren Gibson participated as a well dressed woman and ran a personal best due to all the men folk who wanted to pick her (him) up.

Lizette is still on track with her training. RWFL thanks members who are supporting and training with her in her bid to raise funds for brave cancer patient, baby Emma.

Lizette will be running the 100 Miler (161km) on 19 and 20 September. She will only take an hour’s rest after his 24 hour circuit race in Pietermaritzburg to get to Amanzimtoti, where she will complete her quest by doing about 10 hours and about 70km in the CANSA relay at Kingsway High School.

RWFL urges companies, families and schools to support Lizette by pledging money towards this cause.

RWFL challenges anyone to start walking with the goal of being able to complete a 10km race within three months of training. Call RWFL’s Faizel on 086-100-5566 for details.

Training days are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday at Amanzimtoti High School from 5pm to 6pm.

The new date for the Cansa relay is Saturday, 20 September at 5pm. The event goes through the night to 5am on Sunday. RWFL has five teams thus far with 10 members per team. Join in this event at Kingsway High, as it is not a race but a fun event to honour those who are living with, have died of or are survivors of cancer. RWFL challenges schools, sports clubs, companies, and sports teams to put teams together

This Saturday sees the running of the fourth 5km parkrun at Toti main beach, with an 8am start. There is a 5am start for Saturday’s 5km long run from Amanzimtoti High.

Also on Saturday, there is cross-country at Hutchinson Park with a 9am start. Members should support this event even if they’re not running.

The pre-entry Spar women’s 10km and 5km race is on Sunday at 7am in Durban.
