Koll climbs Lake Eland grand masters podium

A few Toti mountain bikers competed in the newly resurrected Lake Eland, where Bruce Koll got a third grand masters - his first-ever stand on the podium.

THE end of this year is on the horizon and this means longer daylight hours available for Amanzimtoti Cycle Club's members to ride their bikes.

More bike lovers will be crawling out of the woodwork and hauling themselves up onto their dusty machines in order to join the maniacs who don't acknowledge the change in seasons, especially as the Berg and Bush and Amashova is happening in a few days' time.

The club is sure the orange shirts will be well noted in the field and everyone will have fun doing well in these races. Good luck for these rides.

Members will be meeting at Thirsty Whale on Friday night, 17 October at 6pm for food and drinks to exchange stories about the Berg and Bush and Amashova races. Bring the children and family members along. There will be a repeat get-together for those doing the two day Berg and Bush the following weekend. What a good excuse for two parties.

Rocky Bay held a fantastic outride on 24 September. Ricky is doing a good thing, bringing the real meaning of bike riding back home. The outride is social, exciting and enjoyable. One gets to ride new track and meet new friends. The next one is definitely worth finding the time to do.

The time trial on the first Friday of every month is also a great concept. As it stays lighter later, it will be easier to get down there to support them in this ride.

The new club road shirts will be available this week and the new seven-bike, lightweight club trailer is also almost built. This should make travelling to races and club rides a bit cheaper, as all can hop into one or two cars.

Get out there and be an inspiration. Call Caryn on 082-357-5287 for any more information about the cycling club.
