RWFL’s Thobile first home in 10km race
Next in was daughter, Bianca Nawrattel in 46 minutes.
SUNDAY dawned bright and sunny, but nice and cool, perfect weather for members of Amanzimtoti Run/Walk for Life at the Totalsports women’s 5km and 10km races in Durban.
A nice group of women and one confused man made the journey to participate in this fun event in aid of cancer awareness with Pink Drive.
New member, Thobile Ngubane who was taking part in her first 10km race came home first in a great time of 1:17. This is a fantastic achievement as she has only been running and walking for six weeks.
Next in was Frankie Shacklady who took it easy and ended in a time of 1:18.
Andelene Downs finished in 1:26 and bringing up the rear was Deneen Slater and Debbie Lombard in 1:45.
The Nawrattel family participated in the 5km event. Matthys had to dress-up as a woman and almost pulled it off with a daring blue skirt, which obviously didn’t slow him down as he clocked a good 39 minutes for the walk.
Next in was daughter, Bianca Nawrattel in 46 minutes. Mom, Liesel and youngest daughter, Anja, who is only nine-years-old finished in five minutes. Anja is now the club’s youngest member and we know she is going to achieve great things this year.
If you would like to walk with this great bunch of guys and girls in safety or would like to learn to run your first 10km race, go along to one of the sessions at Amanzimtoti High School grounds on Monday, Wednesday or Friday afternoons between 5pm and 6pm. Alternately contact Janine on 073-271-1514.
