Toti’s Moor Cup challenge starts this weekend
It was then on to the annual Flya tournament where, after winning the B section for two years in succession, Toti were promoted to the A section for the 2016 tournament.

WITH pre-season preparations wrapped up, it’s all systems go for the start of the 2016 Fidelity Security Moor Cup which gets underway on Saturday, 2 April with Toti Rugby Club’s firsts taking on South Coast Warriors at Kings Park Stadium.
As part of their preparations, Toti played to a 10-all draw with Your Communications College Rovers and followed that up with a magnificent 31-29 win over Varsity College, after being 22-0 down early in the first half.
It was then on to the annual Flya tournament where, after winning the B section for two years in succession, Toti were promoted to the A section for the 2016 tournament. Toti went on to beat SA Home Loans 26-20 in the semi-final before beating the highly fancied Your Communications Rovers team 2-0 (Varsity Cup scoring system where drop goals and penalties count for two points) in a pulsating final, where neither side was able to breach their opponent’s defences.
The game, played in front of a large crowd, was balanced on a knife edge right into referee’s stoppage time. Flyhalf, Jose Rodrigues then broke Rovers’ hearts as he did last year with a last-gasp drop goal to start the celebrations for the Toti players and the large band of supporters.
This all bodes well for the 2016 league season, and, with a few exciting new signings at the club, it should be a season to remember.
