Brennan claims podium spot in Kamberg Classic
Thanks to our sponsor, Pickfords, for providing the much-welcomed transport to and from these far away races.

AMANZIMTOTI Cycling Club ventured west to ride what has earned a reputation as one of the best races on the calendar – the Kamberg Classic.
It is hosted at Glengarry Holiday Farm which is a mere hour away from Pietermaritzburg.
Against the backdrop of the magnificent Drakensberg mountains and overlooking the Little Mooi River, Glengarry is a nature lover’s paradise and a mountain bike enthusiast’s playground.
The 65km event is a mix of jeep track, farm roads, forest trail and sublime single track. Toti’s Brennan Anderson who managed yet another podium finish by coming second to Andrew Hill in a time of 2:45, said: “The race and area are a hidden secret. The route was spectacular, up there with the best in the country. Some amazing effort went into the planning of what should be a race that’s added to most people’s calendar for 2018.”
Malcolm Wallace and John Coulson weren’t too far behind in times of 3:53 and 4:06 respectively.
What makes this mountain bike ride really special is that it brings the mountains back into mountain biking. From the top of the Kamberg, the views over Drakensberg and the descents are spectacular. “Some of the best trail you will ride this year!”
Thanks to the club’s sponsor Pickfords for providing the much-welcomed transport to and from these far-away races.
As for the roadies, they are ramping up their distances in preparation for the Amashova road race which takes place in October. On 1 October, the roadies will join Cyclesphere for an easy, medium-paced club ride following the Amashova route. They will meet at 6am at the Shell Garage in Pietermaritzburg and ride through to Bike and Bean in Durban. All are welcome to join. It’s a club ride and the new club kit will expectantly be ready. All members wearing the new kit will receive a bacon and egg roll with a steaming hot cup of coffee.
