Winkle bowlers claim Port Natal league title

Well done to the Winkle Bowling Club’s men’s Port Natal league team who won three of their games.

WINKLE Bowling Club’s social bowls was well attended and the Friday evening meal prepared by Hannie Nell was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Barrie De Wee overcame Allan Duncan in the Winkle men’s club championship semi finals played Thursday, 4 April. In the women’s 2-4-2 club championship Shirley De Wee and Margaret van Belkum beat Maureen Warrior and Linda Hobbs in a very close game.

Winners of the Women’s Winkle Trips were Julie Sutherland, Marie van der Walt and Debbie Guebbroy. Second session went to Elaine Critchlow, Estelle van der Merwe and Margaret van Belkum and the first session was won by Jeanne Alexander, Jane Coetzee and Dawn Schauer. The 100 board was won by Cathy Badenhorst and the mystery prize was won by Marie van der Walt.

Well done to the Winkle Bowling Club’s men’s Port Natal league team who won three of their games plus the bonus point played on Saturday, 6 April. The next men’s league game is on Saturday, 13 April. The Winkle women’s Port Natal league team will be playing their first league game at Mount Edgecombe Club on Saturday, 13 April.

Club members should note that the monthly trips competition scheduled for Saturday, 13 April has been cancelled due to the men’s and women’s Port Natal league games being played on the same day. The next monthly trips game will be played on Saturday, 27 April starting at 8.30am for 9am. All skips to ensure your teams are available. For more information on this game contact Lou Bingham.

The Winkle Club men’s 2-4-2 will be played on Thursday, 25 April, contact Barrie De Wee for more information on this game.

The new starting time for social bowls on Wednesdays and Fridays during winter is 1.30pm for 2pm. The club wishes all those with birthdays in the month of April a blessed year ahead.
