Toti bowlers are geared up and ready for play
This weekend promises excitement for Toti bowlers.

AMANZIMTOTI Bowling Club (ABC) had fun over the festive season experimenting with several novel formats of the game like ‘snakes and ladders’ and ‘dirty trips’, which caused lots of laughs and head-scratching.
It was back to serious bowls for the novices last week with Shaun Fagan, Danny Ross and Kevin Lindsay winning through to the second round of the Port Natal men’s novice singles to be played on Saturday, January 15, at Durban Bowling Club, and also for Lesley Levy, Zeldine Viljoen and Cheryl Retief winning their first round-robin games in the ABC women’s novice singles.
However, the novices were not the only ones to do well. Winning their sections of the Port Natal Pro 10 pairs were Alec and Susan Nel, Ann and Phil Whitton and Greg McLeod and Barry Bush. Well done to all and good bowling in the next sections to them and also to the 2021 singles champions, Greg McLeod and Susan Nel in the Port Natal men and women’s champion of champions competitions.
This will make it a very busy weekend for Greg and Susan, playing the first rounds of the champion of champions on Saturday, and the Pro 10 pairs finals on Sunday, January 16, at the club. Hopefully, there will be plenty of members there to keep their spirits from flagging.
The first monthly game for the year was the men’s trips, and the winners were Doug Joubert, Phil Whitton and Ray Robinson. Dave Kemp, Fred Welch and Shayne Tocher were the runners-up, and Alec Nel, Ian Crouch and Paul Davies took home the second session prize.
In the first TGIF for 2022, the winner of the 100 board was Hilary Lindsay and Michelle Pitchers won the attendance draw.

Zeldine Viljoen had a chance to try her luck in the key draw, but as she didn’t manage to find the right key the jackpot will go up to R2 300 with 35 keys to choose from. The attendance draw will revert to R100.
Hypersure mixed trips starts on Friday, January 21, at 15:30 for 16:00, and for those curious about the dirty trips head to the club to find out what it’s all about on Sunday, February 6. There will be cash prizes to be won and boerewors rolls on sale afterwards.
The club sends birthday wishes to Jacqui Fouché, Jenny Delport, Dayle Bailey, Michael Roberts, Kokkie de Kock, Guelfo Cobianchi, Marie van der Walt and Carole Glaves.
