Canoe challenge to be held in Scottburgh

The canoeists will brave the cold sea as they start their slog at 06:30.

ENTRIES for the Scottburgh to Brighton Surfski Challenge are drawing to a close, and canoeists are reminded that they have until Thursday, June 30 at midnight to register for the event.

Canoeists will launch on Saturday, July 2. The course will start at Scottburgh Beach, in and around the checkpoint in Amanzimtoti, and then continue on to Brighton Beach.

The doubles are the main category this year, but single paddlers are welcome. Singles will start at 06:30 and doubles at 07:00.

Registration can be made on the Kwazulu-Natal Canoe Union website. Each of the first 180 paddlers registered will receive a Spar goodie bag and a shirt. All usual safety equipment and SafeTrx to be utilised. Prizegiving will be conducted at On Point Waterfront from 13:00 to 14:00.
