Dance examiner Bridgette Carson said, “They are the only KwaZulu-Natal dancers who qualified to represent our country alongside their instructor, Talita Helberg, and me.”

Helberg said she was overwhelmed and surprised by their achievements. “They are committed. Most of them dance a minimum of six hours per week and often have to sacrifice their weekends to put in extra time,” she said.

Carson added that it was an exciting, high-energy day of exams. “From an examiner’s point of view, I saw body-core control. I am excited to see these girls bring back the gold,” she said.

The IDO (International Dance Organisation) World Championships take place on June 22.
