Action-packed weekend for Amanzimtoti Cricket Club
Players from the club gave it their all on the pitch, scoring some good points.
AMANZIMTOTI Cricket Club (ACC) produced a varied set of results on February 25, with wins for the women and U13 teams, while the second, third and U11 teams lost their matches.
Their first and veterans’ team had byes at the weekend.
The club’s scribe, Peter Lonie, said the highlight of the weekend was a superb unbeaten century from Kaylee Stadler for ACC’s women’s team in their 94-run win over Umgababa Cricket Club. “ACC scored 202/5 in 30 overs and bowled Umgababa out for 108. Kaylee was well supported by Danelle Pillay, who scored 59 runs. Lezaan Gerber was the pick of ACC’s bowlers, picking up 3 wickets,” he said.

ACC’s U13 team beat Harlequins Cricket Club by 37 runs in a T20 match played on the Toti main oval. Lonie said ACC batted first and scored 159/2 with Tyler Jarrat scoring a fine 51 before being retired not out. “ACC bowled Harlequins out for 122 with Aldren Kaligan bagging 3 wickets,” he said.
Chesterville Cricket Club’s U11s beat ACC in a T20 played at Chesterville. “ACC batted first and scored 100 all out, with Jeremy Thöle top-scoring with 20 runs and Alex Dickin scoring 19 runs. In reply, Chesterville scored 101/4, winning by 6 wickets. Connor Gladman was ACC’s best bowler, with a return of 2/9 in 3 overs,” said Lonie.
ACC’s third team played African Warriors Cricket Club away at Crusaders. African Warriors batted first and scored 234/7 in 20 overs, with Chris Cronje claiming 2/34. Lonie said that in the chase, ACC were bowled out for 138, handing African Warriors a 96-run win. Mark Dennill top-scored for ACC with 42 runs.
In a close match on Crusaders’ main oval, ACC’s second team lost by 1 wicket to Crusaders. Lonie said, “Batting first, ACC scored 99 all out with skipper Tiveshan Naidoo scoring 43 runs. Chasing 100 to win, Crusaders scored 101/9, thus winning by a single wicket. JJ Fourie was the pick of ACC’s bowlers, bagging 4/23 in 4 overs.”
