This exciting annual race is a Comrades qualifier which offers the opportunity for runners and walkers to experience the best of the city of Durban. It also included a half-marathon and 10km.

Botes said the 10km route was fast and flat. “It was run from Kings Park Athletic Stadium, towards the city, returning to Blue Lagoon then back to Kings Park. My time was 01:05:57. I was first in the 60+ age category. I was very happy with my time as it was a very hot day,” she said.

Botes is now looking forward to the club’s 10km champs that will be held at Stella Athletics Club on May 12.

Liesl Fourie of AAC congratulated all the members who ran and gave special congratulations to Botes for her stellar achievement of a podium position.
