Isipingo’s legendary soccer administrator honoured

The tournament was held in honour of legendary soccer administrator, Ronnie Vengan, who is the founder of the Isipingo Junior Soccer Academy.

THE Ronnie Vengan The Legend Tournament was held at Isipingo Hill’s Kamalinee Primary School in pleasant weather on November 30.

The tournament was held in honour of legendary soccer administrator, Ronnie Vengan, who is the founder of the Isipingo Junior Soccer Academy.

The tournament’s spokesperson, Mogie Padayachee, said 28 teams took part in the annual event.

“The tournament is held to honour Vengan for his commitment to soccer and his invaluable contribution to sport,” she said.

Played on different fields simultaneously, the games kicked off with the U10, U13, and U16 teams playing their respective opponents for top honours.

Battle lines were also drawn for girls’ teams who were playing in the cool shade of the astroturf field. Orient Sporting was the winner in the girls’ section, as well as in the boys’ U10 category. Colleen’s Athletics won boys U13 and Protea Power won boys U16.
