The race enjoys a storied past, with this year’s being the 35th race since 1990. This year, Durban’s streets will be occupied by 12 000 runners, dwarfing the just over 2000 that raced all those years ago. The route follows the same iconic fast and flat out-and-back course starting near the Hollywoodbets Kings Park Stadium, concluding on the outer fields of the rugby grounds.

SPAR spokesperson Sharlene Versfeld said, “Moments are best shared and what better way than making memories with a group of friends or colleagues at this year’s race? You will enjoy a well-marshalled route with refreshment stations, medical support, race timing, a medal to commemorate your race and an online finisher’s certificate. At the finish line, you and your fellow racers will celebrate your achievement with live entertainment. There will also be many lucky draw prizes to be won, including a Hyundai Exter 1.2 valued at over R260 000.”

This year’s race pack is extra special, with the drawstring bag filled to the brim with a T-shirt and goodies. Race pack collections will be at the Kings Park Stadium outer fields on June 20 from 10:00 until 18:00 and on June 21 from 10:00 to 16:00. For bulk entries, a special day has been organised where your team leader can collect your crew’s race packs on June 19.

Bulk entries for 10 or more people closes at midnight on June 6. Individual online entries close on June 16. If you are entering a team, your team co-ordinator will need to do so via the online entry portal. To receive this entry portal, send an email to kzn@spar.run. Social runners entering the 10km event not in possession of a 2025 ASA licence number will be required to purchase a temporary licence for R55.
