Now in its 25th edition, the race drew runners from far and wide, and had lots of prizes to be won, including a flat screen TV, and R20 000 in prize money. In a statement, the Kearsney Striders Club congratulated all the runners and said the race was a strong start to the year.

Amanzimtoti Athletic Club’s running captain, Warren Gibson, said the race was well organised and the weather was perfect.

“There were some nice hills, and it felt like a climb for days. Some good times were run by all, even though it was the first race for the year,” said Gibson.

The next races are the Pinetown and Districts Athletics Club’s 25km on January 25, and the first Mixed League Time Trial on January 28.
