Amanzimtoti side eyes cup title glory

Having won its last five league matches, and with only six games left, the club's prospects of lifting the league cup are strong, provided the players keep up the momentum.

TOTI Golden Eagles FC is sitting comfortably on top of the Greater Durban Local Football Association’s log with 32 points earned from 12 outings.

The team had a busy weekend at the Hutchison Park home turf, playing a league match on August 16, and a George Ramalu Cup game the next day. The first match was against Addington FC, which finished at 3-0 in favour of the home side. All three goals were scored by Sandile Mbuthu.

Earlier on August 16, the team’s junior squad played a friendly game on the same pitch against Mkhazini Giant Killers FC. The match ended 1-0 in favour of the visitors.

On August 17, the team travelled to Durban’s Hoy Park to face Alexis Sporting FC and again won 3-0.
Having won its last five league matches, and with only six games left, the club’s prospects of lifting the league cup are strong, provided the players keep up the momentum. Club official Bheki Khumalo said if they win three of the remaining matches they will claim the league title.

“Four of the matches are home games, and two will be played away. We have set ourselves targets and we don’t want to lose any of the remaining matches and drop points,” said Khumalo.
