Prominent businessman from Glenvista dies in accident.
GLENVISTA – A Prominent Glenvista businessman was reported in the Volksblad Newspaper on March 23 to have died in a fatal accident in Sasolburg.
According to reports three seasoned motorcyclists, Arch Brooms and two long-time friends, Andre (51) and Danita Otto (50), of Boksburg were involved in a vehicle collision as they travelled through Sasolburg from the Buffalo Motorcycle rally hosted by Nomads Motorcycle Club in Mossel Bay.
Brooms unfortunately died on the scene of the accident, while Andre and Danita sustained serious injuries. Danita’s injuries resulted in her right foot being amputated and she is still in the intensive care unit.
Danita’s brother, Nico Scheepers, said that he understands that a car, apparently on the wrong side of the road, hit Brooms before crashing into Andre and Danita, who were driving in front.
Both Danita and Andre were seasoned motorcyclists and for years have been members of a motorcycle club called The Syndicates. Andre is the Deputy President of the club and Brooms was also a member.
Scheepers added that he had only met Brooms once, saying: “He was an amazing guy.”
Andre revealed his parents have been motorcycling for years, his father for more than 30 years. Mariana Scheepers, Danita’s sister, said the death of Brooms has been a huge blow for his two friends. Andre’s right leg was broken in the accident and it was operated on.
Scheepers described her sister and brother-in-law as very cautious drivers. “They have never been involved in any accident before and they took part in many motorbike rallies in the past.”
