Vicious dogs attack student

Screaming only incited the other dog attack her as well.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – two vicious dogs bit and tore Zanele Mngadi’s legs on the morning of Monday March 24, while she was jogging in Kibler Park.

The 21-year-old student had just started her jogging routine, wearing earphones, when one of the dogs jumped her in the street.

Her screams for help only incited the other dog to attack as well.

Mngadi sustained deep wounds which cause her to sleep badly, and she could not walk for a few days.

She is a university student, but now she cannot study well because her legs hurt and swell when she puts her feet on the ground.

“Lately I have been having problems sleeping. My legs are very painful, the wounds deep and serious. Walking and studying is hard because of the pain. It frustrates me. This was a traumatising experience. I am now scared to run outside in the open because of what happened.

“When I was attacked, I was really scared, because those were vicious dogs,” Mngadi said.

Mngadi’s legs bleed sometimes as the wounds have not fully healed.

The keeper of the dogs spoke to Mngadi and was keen to help her.

“Because I was wearing my earphones and the dogs caught me by surprise, I was not even sure whether the gate was open or closed when they jumped me. Fortunately a person who drove past came to scare the dogs away from me,” Mngadi added.
