BREAKING NEWS – One dead during armed robbery at Electron

Kevin Peel from National Paramedics said about four were shot were injured.

SEVERAL shots were fired when a group of armed men robbed Electron Butchery in Steeledale, allegedly leaving one security guard killed, on Wednesday morning November 11.

According to an eyewitness who was on the scene, shots were fired and people were running in all directions. “When I heard gun shots, I immediately ran for cover. Then I saw the men drive away in a bakkie towards town, through Heidelberg Road,” he said.

Netcare 911 paramedics were at the scene. Chris Botha, Media Liaison Officer – Netcare 911 said, “Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at the scene and found that a security guard had sustained life-threatening injuries while two other shoppers had minor injuries. Paramedics placed the critically wounded man on a ventilator and worked fervently for an extensive period to try and resuscitate the patient. Tragically, despite all their efforts the man was declared dead at the scene. Medics treated the other patients at the scene before they transported them to a local hospital for the care that they required.”
