AMMAARAH Mia, a Grade Six learner from Al Huda Academy in Robertsham participated in the Spelling Bee for the first time that was hosted by the Gauteng Department of Education.
She attained first position at both Cluster and District level. She then proceeded to the next level, the Provincial level, where she was placed fifth. Al Huda Academy is an all-girls school which began in 2011 with and has progressed since. Next year, 2018 opens a new chapter for the school, as they will introduce their first Grade Eight.
The school participates in various extra–curricular activities. The Spelling Bee competition is just one of the highlights of the year.
Shirin Osman, the principal said, “We would like to thank Razeena Jassat, HOD of languages at the school, for her dedication and preparation of learners who participated in the Spelling Bee. Congratulation to Ammaarah Mia for her outstanding achievement – fifth position in the entire Gauteng region.”
