Are old age homes safe?

The COURIER took to the streets to find out how safe the old age homes in the South are.

ON May 6, due to negligence, a fire broke out at the Moffat Old Age Home. The COURIER took to the streets to find out how safe the old age homes in the South are.

KERILEN LESEKA “In the olden days homes used to be safe, these days it’s all about money. Homes are failing dismally and the government should look into this. I feel sorry for the residents of old age home in Moffat.”

EMMA DU PLESSIS “Some homes are safe, it depends on the staff. If the staff show determination and apply work ethic every time, nothing can go wrong.”

SIPHOKAZE CHIMA “It is better if one can rely on a spouse or family to take care of them because homes don’t have security. Every week you hear that one of the homes in the South has been robbed.”

KEAGAN RAMSAMMY “It depends on the area the home is in. I wouldn’t take my mother to a place that is surrounded by negativity.”
