ONE of the vendors outside Rewlatch Primary School in Victoria Road felt violated when five members of Moffat View CPF ‘raided’ her stall on March 8.
She said the learners and people, in general, have been buying her goods for over 15 years at that spot and there has never been any problem.
“I want to know whether the CPF members are here to help us or to make our lives a living hell? When they first came here they said it was a raid and they were checking for expired stuff. They could not find any. After they could not find the dates on some of the snacks, they took about 200 packets,” explained the vendor.
The CPF asked her where did she had bought the snacks and she said that she had bought them at the market. The CPF members then told her that she must not buy there because the Pakistan people make the snacks ‘underground’.
“What I want to know from the CPF, is where I must I now buy my products? I have been buying from the market for over 15 years and no one got sick. Nothing happened to people. I am a pensioner who is trying to make ends meet. What must I do now? Can the CPF pay my rent, electricity rates and water? If it can, then I will stay at home,” noted the vendor.
The COURIER contacted Moffat View CPF for comment. The company acknowledged that it is aware of the incident. “We’ve heard something, but as you obviously know, these stories always have two sides. We are following it up, but as yet we still don’t have facts. We are speaking to the people involved. We will inform you of the progress,” Paulo Monteiro from the CPF said.
A case of theft (CAS273/3/2018) has been opened with Moffat View Police.
