Residents fed up with car battery theft at Reuven home

They also claim that the fact that nothing is being done by management to prevent this debacle, it is just making matters worse.

REUVEN residents are fed up with constant theft of their belongings, especially from their vehicles, which have been steadily escalating since 2017.

They also claim that the fact that nothing is being done by management to prevent this debacle, it is just making matters worse. Residents’ car batteries and the rims get stolen every week. Most of the residents tried to install alarms in their vehicles but the stealing keeps on escalating. When residents report the matter to the management they are told that security is employed to mind the gate only.

One resident, who wishes to remain anonymous, said street lights not working is part of the problem because at night residents can’t see a thing and the thugs seize the opportunity to stage their shady dealings. One resident lost 14 batteries in a week and he has opened a case with police. The residents slam management for neglecting residents’ safety at the home.

“Six months ago two guys came in here and threatened a resident at gunpoint and took his car. Management does not take any responsibility for the safety of our vehicles. That is on us. We as the resident were not cautioned regarding the parking because there is supposed to be a board that states ‘Park at your own risk’,” said a resident.

Two security guards are on duty to safeguard the home but crime still happens. Residents claim that everybody is allowed access and no one is taking responsibility for controlling who goes in and out of the premises.

Graig Mackett, the manager of the home, said, “Most of the residents don’t report their matters to the police and I can’t comment any further because we have a communications person who deals with the media.”

The COURIER tried to contact the communications officer but without any success.
