Dressing to the nines, the ‘Skhothane’ ways

STYLISH and expensive clothes are what makes Ayanda Silent Killer’Radebe a “Sikhothane” (a bragger).
The clothes that he wears are not less than R600 in price per piece.
When the COURIER caught up with him on Tuesday, September 4, he was wearing RM shoes which costs R3 000 a pair. He claims that he prides himself about what he wears and no one will stop him from wearing expensive clothes.
He started being a “Sikhothane” in 2012. At first, he used to burn his clothes to impress his classmates, friends, neighbours and fans. But as years went by he realised that he is sending a bad message to the young ones, and he stopped burning his clothes.

For him wearing cheap clothes is an insult. He has a crew that is on the same page with him. He and his crew use to meet with other groups of “Sikhothanes” from other areas to brag and show off to determine which crew is wearing the most expensive clothes. That is where he would burn his clothes just to show that he has loads of cash to buy new ones.
He told COURIER that at the time, in order to fit in, one needed to impress by all means. From those meetings with other groups of “Sikhothanes” people loved him and started to fall in love with his so-called craft. But now he is not burning clothes anymore. He is just wearing them to impress.

“I am just having fun like any young person out there. No matter what people say, I don’t steal from people. I am working. It’s not an easy thing to be a “Sikhothane” because one has to always dress in stylish clothes,” explained Ayanda.
He pleaded with young people to not try to become “’Sikhothanes”.
