Paulo Monteiro from CPF said public drinking was not permissible and against the law, and several people were arrested for it.

MOFFAT View SAPS in conjunction with JMPD, Environmental Health, EMS, Development Planning and the Moffat View CPF’s patrollers from Sectors 1 and 3, performed a crime clean-up operation through the entire area of the Moffat View precinct on November 9.

Abandoned buildings were investigated, several shops were inspected, expired consumables were destroyed and fines issued. Liquor outlets were also checked for licences and compliance.

While the operation continued, Sector 2 patrollers joined in. There was high visibility policing throughout the entire area of the precinct.

Paulo Monteiro from CPF said public drinking was not permissible and against the law, and several people were arrested for it.

“Moffat View CPF appealed to the community on numerous occasions to stop drinking in public. Public drinking is against the law and members of the public that insist on public drinking may be apprehended. Shops and liquor outlets were visited, to make sure they complied with closing times. Thank you to all the officers and patrollers involved in another successful operation,” he said.
