Young and old celebrated June 16 in Ward 57

June 16 is known as Soweto Uprising in South African History.

This is an annual public holiday in which we remember the significance of what happened on that fateful day in 1976.

Ward 57 councillor Faeeza Chame said the youth came out in numbers with adults in school attire to celebrate this historic day on her ward.

“My message to our youth is to always have hope you will reach the top. Hope is being able to see that there is light at the end of the tunnel despite all the darkness. You cannot change anyone but yourself, live your life but always hope for the best in life. Regardless of how things turn out don’t lose hope,” she said.

All Covid-19 rules and regulations were applied in all events.
