Absent magistrate means Terry’s case is postponed

Terry first appeared in court on December 21, 2021, and is out on R5 000 bail.

The intended presiding officer for Sheldon Terry’s fraud case, Magistrate Vele, was not in court when Terry briefly appeared at Booysens Magistrate’s Court on October 24.

The case was postponed to November 7 to arrange another trial date. It was established in court that Vele is in Mpumalanga as an acting judge for five weeks.

Terry’s defence opposed the State’s application to postpone the matter, saying they were ready to proceed. However, the court ruled in favour of the State, postponing the case.

Terry’s bail was extended, and the conditions remain the same.
