Mondeor murder case stalls as second attorney withdraws

The 19-year-old accused remains without legal representation after his latest attorney filed a notice of withdrawal.

A 19-year-old is facing a murder charge after allegedly fatally stabbing another teenager (18) at Ballbreakers, a pool hall in Mondeor, on April 5, 2025.

The Booysens Magistrate’s Court heard the case on September 28.

The matter was postponed after both attorneys of record filed notices of withdrawal.

Attorneys withdraw from case

The first was the accused’s original attorney, Paul Leisher, who came on record when the case began in 2025.

Leisher was shot in an incident outside the court in 2025 and then formally withdrew.

The second attorney, Kruger, represented the accused at the last three appearances before suddenly withdrawing in August.

The accused appeared in court, but with no legal representation on record, the matter could not proceed.

Case postponed

Magistrate Vele postponed the matter to October 22 for a new lawyer to come on record.

The accused’s bail was extended.
