BESA Leadership Academy shows commitment to cancer awareness

The BESA Leadership Academy’s recent CANSA Shavathon and Sprayathon was a resounding success, raising R6 000 and donating ponytails to support cancer patients.

The BESA Leadership Academy hosted a CANSA Shavathon and Sprayathon on March 6.

Despite being an event limited to the school community, comprising 148 learners and 21 staff members, the collective effort resulted in the remarkable achievement of raising R6 000 and donating two ponytails to the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA).

Clint Preddy of the academy said their commitment to supporting this noble cause, a focal point since 2014, was commendable.

“The passion and dedication displayed in organising and participating in such events highlight the values of empathy and solidarity deeply ingrained in the school’s ethos.

“Looking ahead, I feel excited about the aspiration to expand next year’s event to include BESA families and friends. It reflects a growing momentum towards broader community engagement and support for cancer awareness initiatives.

“By opening up participation to a wider audience, we aim to amplify our impact and reach. It is about fostering a culture of giving back and making a difference in the fight against cancer. I believe this inclusivity will not only enhance the event but also strengthen our bonds as a community united in a common cause,” said Preddy.
