Herbert Park Bowling Club hosts fun day for good cause

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in South Africa and around the world. According to CANSA, 1 in 18 males in South Africa will get prostate cancer. The issue with prostate cancer is that, in contrast to testicular cancer, symptoms may not appear in the early stages.

Herbert Park Bowling Club hosted a fun-filled day of bowling to raise awareness of prostate cancer on November 24.

The event, an annual tradition since 2016, drew a large crowd of enthusiastic bowlers eager to support a worthy cause.

As part of its community outreach initiatives, Herbert Park Bowling Club dedicates two special days to cancer awareness: a Pink Day for breast cancer awareness and a Blue Day for prostate cancer awareness.

The club has consistently supported Stepping Stones Hospice in Alberton with donations from their Pink Day and Blue Day.

When asked about their expectations for the event, club representative Collin van Ransburg mentioned they aimed to raise approximately half of the amount collected during their Pink Day event.

Van Ransburg said: “It is, however, up to us as a club to decide on who the beneficiaries of any donations should be, as we did this year with Pink Day.”

By hosting these awareness days, Herbert Park Bowling Club demonstrates their dedication to supporting important health causes and promoting a culture of social responsibility.
