Grab life’s opportunities

The lack of knowledge is not the reason why most people are not living their dreams, ask them and they will tell you exactly what they want.

“This I choose to do. If there’s a price, this I choose to pay. If it is my death, then I choose to die. Where this takes me, there I choose to go. I choose. This I choose to do.” – Terry Pratchett.

The lack of knowledge is not the reason why most people are not living their dreams – ask them and they will tell you exactly what they want. The main reason they are not living their dreams is that they are not willing to pay the price for it. The price for living your dream is the pain of criticism, rejection, adversity and being prejudiced against by the masses. The masses prefer what is easy and fun to do, but the results thereof are very painful later on in life.

Oh! I love Maya Angelou when she says “you may shoot with your words, you may cut me with your eyes, you may kill me with your hatefulness, but still, like air, I’ll rise”. These are, once again, the words from a person of substance who was willing to pay the price. The moment you are willing to grab life by its collar and say “give it up, this is my stuff!”, doors of opportunity will open up widely for you.

Theodore Roosevelt once said “do what you can, with what you have, where you are”. This simply means, don’t wait for the perfect moment, take the moment and make it perfect – this is my daily mantra. When I ask people why are they not doing what they want to do, the answers I often get are “when my kids are grown” or “when I find a rich partner” or “when I retire” or “when the conditions are favourable”. The time is now!
