Pause and smell the fresh roses

Do not just follow the crowd or keep on whining and complaining.

“Nothing ever goes away until it teaches us what we need to know.” – Pema Chodron

Most of us continue to complain about not getting what we want and yet we are not willing to embrace the challenges that cover what we want. I have grown to see life more as a prickly pear. A prickly pear is a fruit that is so delicious on the inside, but vicious on the outside. It has a thorny skin and cannot be handled with bare hands. When eaten, this fruit has a number of health benefits. The benefits include its ability to lower cholesterol, improve digestion, boost immunity, prevent cancer, aid in weight loss, and to treat arthritis.

Most people, however, never bother trying this fruit out simply because of its thorny skin and the ‘difficulty’ to access its insides. It requires time, special skills and tools to remove the thorny skin. Only after the removal of the skin one can enjoy its delicious inside and enjoy the number of health benefits. We lose out on the vast number of benefits this fruit has just because we don’t have the time (five minutes) and energy to peel it. This is being penny wise and pound foolish indeed. Develop the skills and you will enjoy the benefits – that’s how life goes.

If the last five years didn’t yield desired results, you can change how you live your next five years. Use your intelligence. Do not just follow the crowd or keep on whining and complaining.

Identify what would be the best version of you. Develop yourself. Move towards that image every day and get professional coaching to see what you cannot see for yourself. You have special talents and gifts waiting to be developed and unleashed, so, develop them right away!
