Great service at South Rand Hospital

"Saying I received the worst service in the days I was there would be a lie."

So often we focus on the wrong we receive and not the good.

I was at South Rand Hospital from April 29 to May 3 to give birth, even though I was terrified because of the stories I have heard before about how the service is extremely bad.

There was a guy (Shukela) working night shift the days I was in hospital. I would love to say he loves his job, he got into the profession because of love and nothing else. Being a first-time mother I was scared and not knowing what to expect, terrified me even more.

He took care of me, he made sure I understood what was going on and explained everything I didn’t understand. Although he couldn’t take away the pain, his support made the pain a little better.

Saying I received the worst service in the days I was there would be a lie. If only we can get more of his kind in the maternity ward as that is a place where women go through the most and don’t need to be treated bad while they’re there.

I will forever be grateful for the way he treated me.
