BOXERS from the South will have to lift the bar when they participate in the latest African Ring tournament.
“Raising the Bar” will take place on Monday September 30 at Emperors Palace. The Box ‘n Dine will be presented by African Ring in conjunction with Golden Gloves Promotions and Emperors Palace.

Back in the ring will be Jason Bedeman featuring in the main bout in a star filled line-up. Bedeman who has been recovering from an injury will face the all experienced Ali Funeka. Funeka is a former WBF world champion and currently number two on the BSA ratings. Bedeman on the other hand is number seven on BSA ratings.
The younger Bedeman will take on Funeka from the Eastern Cape in the junior-welterweight division over ten rounds. “I have recovered well from my injury and I am ready to fight him,” said Jason Bedeman. He was last seen in the ring in November 2012 where he sustained a rib injury. “I have been in training for a full twelve weeks now and for me this is back to boxing business now.”
Bedeman has joined the Anton Gilmore Box Office camp from the Southern Suburbs Recreation Centre and will be fighting alongside the young up and coming Paul Kamanga. Kamanga will be up against Willis Baloyi in the junior-welterweight bout over six rounds.
These two boxers will be assisted by Raymond Cerfonteyn as their condition trainer and the well-known Gert Strydom.
Strydom’s prospect, Alfonso Tissen from Alberton, will also be in action. He will take on Tyrone Koen in the junior-middleweight bout also over six rounds.
The opening bout will belong to Ricardo Hiraman vs William Baloyi in the featherweight division over four rounds.
Out of the Hot Box Gym, Adam de Moor and Asheley Dlamini , will respectively come up against Luyanda Jako – junior welterweight, and Joseph Modesi, junior-lightweight. Under the watchful eye of their trainer/manager, Colin Nathan, they will definitely have their skills on display.
