u.19 World Cup to start in Dubai.

AIDEN MARKRAM of The Unlimited Titans received the biggest surprise of his life when he was announced as the captain of the South Africa u.19 squad that will travel to Dubai for the 2014 ICC u.19 World Cup. He will lead the 15-man squad to the biggest tournament of their lives so far, beginning February 14 to March 1.

The CSA u.19 Cap Ceremony took place on Thursday February 5 where the players who will represent South Africa received their colours.

“I was so shocked I didn’t even know if I was happy or not at the time (of the announcement),” Markram said. “This is a tremendous honour and I am looking forward to the challenge of leading the side all the way to the final.”

The team was announced at the closing function of the Cricket South Africa (CSA) Franchise Cubs Week. Coach Raymond Jennings is happy with the final team that was selected and looks forward to leading the side to Dubai.

“It was a tough process picking out this side, but I’m satisfied that we’ve picked out the best team for this competition,” he said. “It’s a very exciting tournament that we’re going to, and I’m looking forward to seeing how the guys perform against the best in the world. This is their time to prove us right or wrong.”

The team met in Johannesburg for their last camp on February 2 and left for Dubai on February 7.
