Two-month-old baby rescued from drain

Brighton Beach SAPS Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit urge anyone with information on the abandoned baby girl to come forward and make a report.

A member of the public found an abandoned baby in a drain in Richbourer Road, Clairwood on Monday, 1 June.

Members of SAPS, Brighton Beach were called for assistance. The drain cover was removed and a two-month-old baby was rescued.
“The baby girl received medical treatment, and has been placed in the foster care pending the investigation and DNA results,” said media officer, Capt Louise Le Roux.
