Karate talent set to fly KZN flag high at national event
His biggest dream is to have his own dojo one day so that he can help other children to learn how to protect themselves against bullies.
A karate student from The Bluff, Reinhard Venter (12), has been given the incredible opportunity to represent KZN at karate tournaments in Gqeberha (August), Mpumalanga (September), and Bloemfontein (October).
He will take part at the Seiwa-kai Open Karate tournament on June 27 in Randburg.
As a karateka he said his biggest dream is to have his own dojo one day so that he can help other children to learn how to protect themselves against bullies.
He said karate has taught him the following:
- Discipline.
- Dedication.
- Perseverance and respect.
“Through countless hours of training and hard work, I have achieved success in the sport, including earning a gold medal in Kumite in Commonwealth Championships. I’m also the champion at the Style Block. I’ve got gold for KZN for three years in a row, and I’m currently on my last brown belt and currently going for my junior black belt which has helped me qualify for these prestigious competitions,” he said.

Competing at this level is a dream come true, but it also comes with significant travel and accommodation costs.
His grandmother, Berta Venter, said, “We are therefore reaching out to family, friends, businesses, and the community for support to help make this journey possible.”
Funds raised will go towards:
- Tournament entry fees.
- Travel expenses.
- Accommodation.
- Meals while competing.
- Training and competition-related costs.
“Every contribution, no matter how big or small, will help me continue pursuing my passion and proudly represent KZN on the national stage,” Venter added.
