Bikers’ nappy run shows their heart for community
ABOUT 450 bikers from over 32 motorcycle clubs joined forces in the annual nappy run hosted by Christian Motorcyclists Association (CMA) on Sunday, 4 August.

Bikers met at Southway Mall at about 9.30am, and rode in unison to Woodlands Sports Club where the bikers enjoyed a fun-filled day.
It was not all fun and games though, with a pack of nappies as the entry fee, bikers donated much-needed necessities to a worthy cause. Last year, three children’s homes benefited from the event. This year’s beneficiaries were Angels of Mercy and Rotary Club of Durban Berea. “We are very grateful to CMA for choosing Angels of Mercy as one of their beneficiaries on the nappy run, it makes a big difference to our hospital visits,” said Angels of Mercy director, Pat Bayley.
Paul Palmer of Rotary Club of Durban Berea said: “We have various organisations to which we will be handing over the diapers. We would like to extend our gratitude to everyone involved in the nappy run.”
CMA, which has been in existence for 33 years, has been hosting the nappy run for about 11 years. “We are bridging the gap between the need and supply. The bikers have come to the table and supported the event, we are grateful to them,” said CMA president, Pastor Gerhard Le Roux.
He says they are trying to eliminate the stereotypes about bikers. He went on to say, “bikers have a heart for the community.”
