Author Sagie Naicker will launch his book at the Merewent Cheshire Home, with all the proceeds from the sales going to the home.

A STORY woven with faith, resilience and divine grace, is set to unfold at the Merewent Cheshire Home tomorrow afternoon (May 23) when author Sagie Naicker launches his memoir, The One Before The Zero. Beyond the powerful story is an act of kindness as Naicker will donate all money raised from sales of the book to the home.

A transformative journey

At the heart of Naicker’s memoir lies a transformative journey. It began in 1985, after a devastating car accident left him as a paraplegic. “A split second changed everything. A life-altering car accident and a grim prognosis from doctors, who believed I would never walk or work again, effectively redefined my future. Yet, where the world perceived an end, faith revealed a beginning,” said Naicker.

The pages of the memoir intricately detail Naicker’s profound spiritual journey, illustrating how his unwavering devotion to Bhagavan Sri Satya Sai Baba emerged as a powerful source of strength during life’s most trying periods. His recollections, spanning across both Africa and India, recount what Naicker describes as miraculous encounters and moments of divine intervention.

Beating the odds

Naicker said that this memoir reaches beyond a mere recounting of overcoming adversity, rather, it speaks to the deeper process of transforming one’s personal struggles into a life dedicated to serving others.

“This memoir stands as a testament to the profound ways faith, love and surrender can reshape a life. It is, at its core, a story of transformation, illustrating how divine grace converted personal struggle into selfless service,” he said.

Naicker added how the inspiration from the Education in Human Values programme spurred him to launch various community upliftment initiatives, such as the Welbedacht Rural Project and the Forget Me Not Sporting Club for the Disabled.

Serving others

Ultimately, Naicker harbours a sincere hope that readers will depart from his book feeling truly inspired by its core message.

“It serves as an inspiration, prompting one to manifest their inherent divinity. It is, in essence, a heartfelt tribute to the enduring grace of the one who bestows profound meaning and value upon the ‘zero’.”
