Motivational speakers to inspire youth
GENERATIONS star, Thabo Mnguni, along with other motivational speakers gave hope to more than 600 youths at the Clairwood Racecourse recently in commemoration of youth month.

About 200 stakeholders joined the youngsters at the ‘Youth Sharing Possibilities’ expo, an initiative of the South Durban Development Network (SDDN) in partnership with South Durban Basin (SDB) Area Based Management (ABM), the eThekwini Safer Cities Unit and the Department of Community Safety and Liaison.
The youths were educated on the perils of human trafficking, the ‘sugar daddy’ syndrome and drug abuse. Actor and South Durban resident, Thabo Mnguni, urged them to make good, informed decisions in their lives and to take the opportunities given to them.

Locals, Bryan Kok, Darian Smith and Sifiso Makhwanazi who overcame tough environments with bleak prospects and made successes of themselves, spoke to the assembled group about their lives and their achivements.
Programme director, Siya Nzimande from Hope2Educate spoke about losing his mother at an early age to HIV, but not allowing himself to succumb to the adverse circumstances of his life, becoming a successful, productive member of the community.
Eurakha Singh, SDB ABM manager said she hoped the youths grasped the important messages shared with them.
“Our main aim for organising this event was to motivate and inspire our future leaders to be responsible and to make wise choices in their lives. I thank the SDB ABM for making this event possible,” said SDDN youth steering committee chairman, Kamini Pillaye.
