Snapshots showcased at Bushlands WI meeting

First place for merit goes to Angela Croucamp 84

TALENTED and interesting photographer Liz and husband Wim Kloek paid a second visit to Bushlands Women's Institute on 5 September, and gave a presentation of slides ranging from family shoots to holidays down the coast and at the Kruger National Park.

They even included an Indian and African bride, all accompanied by beautiful musical scores which brought the pictures to life. Liz very proudly exhibited her three framed, prize-winning pictures, all of which are masterpieces.

President Nora Brown opened the small meeting of only 10 members with the WI prayer, and welcomed everyone. Apologies were recorded from Hazel Caldwell, and Lynn Rudolph.

Birthday girls Marie Brown (12th), Lynn Rudolph (16th) and Hazel Caldwell (18th) were all wished a happy day.

The announcement was made that regrettably Bushlands will no longer be working at Botanic Gardens. Avid knitter Hazel Lochner once again brought lots of knitted beanies, and scarves for presentation to chilly children, as did Nora Brown.

The raffle prizes went to Sigrid White and Yvonne Munro. The few competition entries were judged as follows:

Merit: First Angela Croucamp 84

Homemaking: First N Brown 93

Handicraft: First N Brown

The meeting closed with the announcement of competitions for the following month, and a wish that the FWI congress may be a successful one.
