Name a nominee for disaster management forum
THE eThekwini Municipality calls for nominations of community members for the Municipalitys Disaster Management Advisory Forum (MDMAF).

The Municipalitys Emergency Control and Disaster Management Unit has formed the MDMAF to serve a collaborative function between stakeholders from government, business, academia, labour and civil society. The chief purpose of the forum is to enhance the Citys efforts to reduce risk where possible; assist people to better understand the roles that they could play in reducing the impact of disasters; to assist in the development of clear actions to address all aspects of disasters risk reduction, said municipal spokesman, Thabo Mofokeng.
The role of the MDMAF is to give advice and make recommendations on disaster related issues and disaster risk management matters; contribute to disaster risk management planning and co-ordination; establish joint standards of practice; make recommendations on response management systems; gather critical information about the municipalitys capacity to assist in disasters and to access resources; and advise or assist with public awareness, training and capacity building.
Nominations should include the full name, contact details, current position and motivation of suitability of nominees and must be emailed to wilfred.mkhwazi@durban.gov.za, faxed to 086-751-8484 or posted to PO Box 3965, Durban 4000. Self-nominations are welcome and the closing date for submissions is Thursday, 12 December at 4pm.
