BLUFFITE Joyce Huggens celebrated her 90th with a surprise party on Monday, 5 February.

The Bluff Tafta Club organised a morning of entertainment in her honour. According to her friends, Joyce, who was born in 1924, personifies her name by bringing joy to everyone she meets. “She understands that by giving herself, her love and kindness to people gives meaning to her life,” said friend, Rina du Plessis.

“Her secret to a wonderful life is staying active and interacting with people. She conquers new challenges and belongs to various clubs such as Tafta and the garden and senior citizen clubs.”

The 90-year-old and her friends, many well over the age of 60, took to the dance floor to the sounds of local singer, Man in Swart. “Even if some of us had aches and pains the next day because of all the fun we had, we all agreed – Joyce’s 90th birthday will stay in our hearts for a very long time,” said Rina.
